Privacy policy

Information we collect

• Gift preferences and activity. Selected filters and quiz preferences, such as recipient category, interests, budget, and previously given gifts; viewed pages, themes, displayed search results, opened product images, and clicks on retailer links.
• A browser identifier. A randomly generated identifier lets us associate activity from the same browser. It is not your name or email address, but it can link your visits over time.
• Traffic information. Event timestamps, page paths, referral website names, campaign parameters, browser and device categories, country when supplied by our hosting provider, and an estimate of whether a request comes from an automated client.
• Messages you send us. If you contact us, we receive your contact details and the information you choose to include.

Our application's analytics records do not store raw IP addresses, full browser user-agent strings, or full referring URLs. Hosting and image-delivery providers may process IP addresses and request logs to deliver and protect their services. We do not collect payment details or retailer account passwords.

How we use information

We use gift preferences to find relevant ideas, and activity information to understand which recommendations and traffic sources are useful. We also use information to operate and secure the site, diagnose problems, and respond to questions and privacy requests. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-site advertising profiles.

Cookies and browser storage

We store the random browser identifier in your browser's local storage. It stays there until you or your browser clears it. Referral and campaign information is kept in session storage for the browsing session. These help us measure visits and understand how people find GiftVibe.

Administrator sign-in uses a cookie that expires after 14 days or is cleared on sign-out. You can manage cookies and site storage through your browser settings. Clearing storage does not delete records already held on our servers or stop future activity collection; a later visit may create a new identifier.

Service providers and external links

We use Vercel for website hosting and image storage, and Prisma Postgres for database hosting. These providers process information needed to run the site. Some images may load from external image providers, which receive the requests needed to display them. Information may be processed outside your country by these services.

GiftVibe contains links to Amazon and other external sites. When you follow a link, the destination site handles your visit under its own privacy policy. Links may contain affiliate or referral information, and we record outbound clicks. GiftVibe does not receive your payment details through those links. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect the site and its users.

Pinterest connection

This feature is planned and is not currently connected. We intend to let GiftVibe's operator connect their own Pinterest account to prepare and publish gift recommendation Pins. Browsing GiftVibe does not connect your Pinterest account.

When enabled, the connection will use Pinterest's authorization process, without asking us to collect a Pinterest password. It will use authorization tokens to access the connected account and boards and publish the content the account owner approves. The owner must approve each Pin's image, text, destination, board, and publishing time before it is published or scheduled.

We will use Pinterest information only to provide the authorized connection, retrieve account and board information as needed, and handle it according to Pinterest's developer requirements. We will not sell it, use it for advertising profiles, or use it to train AI models. The account owner will be able to revoke access through Pinterest and request deletion of connection information by contacting us. Disconnecting will not automatically remove Pins already published on Pinterest.

Pinterest handles information it receives under its own Privacy Policy. We will update this policy if the implemented connection changes the practices described here.

Retention and your choices

We retain information for the purposes described above, including operating and improving the site, responding to requests, and meeting legal obligations. Site analytics currently have no fixed automatic deletion period. Browser storage follows the periods described above; our service providers manage their own operational logs and backups.

You can contact us to ask about your information or request access, correction, or deletion. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing and complain to your local data protection authority. We may need information to verify your request and identify the relevant records. Because browsing does not require an account, an email address alone may not identify your browsing records.

Children's privacy

GiftVibe is intended for adults choosing gifts, including gifts for children. It is not directed at children under 13. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page as GiftVibe changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
